Dear All,  Continuing with the series on simplifying mathematics. Multiplication:- Base number multiplication. People look at it oddly but the system is more than centuries old. Base number 10. +2  +7 12 x 17 = 19 / (2*7) = 19 / 14 = 20 / 4 = 204. We put the differences from 10 above the numbers ie +2 & +7. There are a left side and right side of the answer. For the left side we add diagonally, 12+7 or 17+2 ie 19. For the right side we multiply the differences ie 2*7=14. Only one digit is to be kept on the right side, so we carry forward 1 out of 14. So, finally we get 20 on the left side and 4 on the right side. And the final answer is 204. Rather than memorizing tables, we do have an alternative. We do earn high degrees but find it difficult to fine-tune the basics. Some more examples:- +5 +8 15 x 18 = 15+8 / (5*8) = 23 / 40 = 270.   +6 +7 16 x 17 = 16+7 / (6*7) = 23 / 42 = 272. Dear All, Continuing on our series of different methods of dealing with calculations. Taking help mainly from Vedic Mathematics, then from Abacus and other ancient techniques. They work fine . Subtraction: -   We do from left to right . As we read from left to right, why do we do math from right to left? The endeavor here is to develop from left to right . It builds speed . Eg: - 26-5 = 21, 26-9 =? Generally we borrow from the ten 's digit and then do 16-9=7 for the unit 's place . Then we get answer 17. But now, we do subtraction by 10's compliments . 1 9, 2 8, 3 7, 4 6, 5 5 are compliments as they add up to 10. Now for 26 - 9 = 26 - 09 = 2/ 7 = 17. 2-0=2 , as 9 is greater than 6 . We take the compliment of 9 ie 1 and add it to 6 to get 7 . Now whenever you use compliments slash the digit on the left ie reduce it by 1 . Here 2-1=1 . So the final answer is 17. Dear All, How many munchies treats are safe for dog consumption? This can only be confirmed by experimentation according to the needs of the particular pet. We mix some bits with rice & curd or any other curry that we make at home. Any pet would like some of the natural food too. He does consume food nicely when we add the treats. If he is having food in 1/2 kg bowl, we give him 5 to 10 treats maximum. He likes the chicken flavor in particular. We prefer giving him some chicken boneless chicken pieces usually once in 3 days. He likes them so much; he doesn't take food without these. Same goes with treats. If you over- dose then he wouldn't take any other food. This could be entirely different for business purpose pets. But for domestic purpose pets above stated is okay according to our experience. The main goal being our pet must enjoy good health.
