Dear All, In the fairy-tale life of Sir Diego Armando Maradona Franco, visited India twice. First time was in 2008 When he landed in Kolkata. He inaugurated a private football academy. He was a staunch supporter, admirer of Cuban President Fidel Castro, whom he considered a fatherly figure. Maradona saw Fidel Castro's photograph with Mr Jyoti Basu the chief minister of West Bengal. He eagerly responded to an invitation to a function with the honorable chief minister. Maradona got a wonderful reception in Kolkata right from the touchdown at the airport. As thousands gathered to greet him with much pomp and glory, he nostalgically remembered Napoli, Italy, where he was received with capacity 75,000 crowd. He played a charitable friendly at the Salt Lake Stadium. He excitedly got into juggling the ball as the crowd reveled and cheered. “This is the second biggest reception of my life after Napoli,” he stated. This is the story of Maradona. A mega-star sprang out from the outskirts of Buenos Aires on 25 September 1 960.
